Hearing loss is very common, especially as we get older. About 25% of people over the age of 65 have some form of hearing loss. That number goes up to 50% over the age of 75 and 80% over the age of 85.

Hearing loss is usually gradual and can sneak up on us. Here are a few signs you may be having trouble hearing:

  • You often ask people to repeat themselves
  • Your friends and family complain that you turn the TV volume up too high
  • You sometimes have difficulty hearing on the telephone
  • Many people seem to mumble or speak unclearly
  • You have trouble following a conversation when several people speak at once
  • You have to concentrate to understand lectures or plays
  • You have trouble hearing when there is noise in the background
  • You frequently hear ringing, roaring or hissing sounds

We can help. Our audiologists will first determine the extent of your hearing loss and the cause. There are then numerous treatments and devices to help improve your hearing.
