When you can't be there for your loved one, we're honored to provide the help and companionship that can make it possible for them to stay where they're most comfortable: home. As your local health and wellness company, we understand the unique needs of the community and offer individualized for patients who need daily, long-term or intermittent care, including:

Our individualized care plans cover more than just patient care. We also offer support, guidance, and reassurance for family members and caregivers. Private duty care provides home health aides, companion care, homemaker services, and skilled nursing so you or your loved ones can remain living at home.

 

Our services and benefits.

Let our team help your family. All of our services are designed to increase your ability to have greater control in your life. 

  • Sitters, companions, and homemakers: Our private duty professionals can prepare and serve nutritious meals, clean dishes and food preparation areas, assist with feeding, change linens, do the laundry, and light housekeeping.
  • Home health aides: We assist with toileting and bathing, dressing and undressing, oral and denture care, eating, getting in and out of bed, walking with an aid, turning in bed, and backrubs.
  • Skilled nursing: An RN or LPN will come to your home to dispense or set up medications, monitor blood sugar levels and administer insulin, provide ventilator care, medically-prescribed pain control and post-surgical wound dressing changes, or other at-home medical monitoring or therapies prescribed by your physician.
  • Complete personal care: We can take care of all personal needs and activities of daily life for our patient.
  • Transportation and errands: Our caregivers can take you to and from doctor’s office visits or help with shopping, running errands, or picking up medications. We're happy to take you to the mall, the park, or even a day trip to Orlando.
  • Respite care: We know caregiving is tough. We will take over the primary caregiver’s daily responsibilities so they can attend an important event or just take some time away to rest and recharge.
  • Care in a facility: We are available to provide supplemental care to people living in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or staying in a hospital.

 

Paying for private duty care.

These services are paid for privately and are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Some long-term care policies may cover private duty costs. We can help you determine if the services you need are covered by your insurance plan. We can also help you file claims and provide any documentation you may need.

FAQs.

No, you do not need a referral to get private duty services. Anyone may call and set up an initial in-home consultation.

One of the best reasons to ask for help is safety.

  • Do you or your loved one feel unsafe living alone?
  • Are you or your loved one having difficulty preparing food or bathing?
  • Are you unable to manage your medications and take them as prescribed?
  • Are you unable to safely get out to do your grocery shopping or errands?

If you answered "Yes" to just one of the above, it might be time to ask about assistance.

We provide an in-home consultation to assess your needs, including medical information, personal interests and hobbies, and a personality profile. This information helps us match the best caregiver for each individual.

We believe in continuity of care so we try our hardest to assign the caregiver of your choice every time. When your regular caregiver is absent from work due to illness or time off, we will assign the most comparable replacement.

We would be honored to work with you and your family. Whether you choose Health First or another home healthcare agency, there are a few important questions you should ask:

  • Do the caregivers work as employees of a licensed home healthcare agency, or is it merely a registry for independent contractors?
  • Is the staff bonded and insured by the agency or independently?
  • Are caregivers paid through the agency or directly by the patient after each visit?
  • Who pays the caregiver's taxes?
  • Who's responsible if caregivers are injured in your home? The agency or the patient and their family?
  • Is there a registered nurse on-call 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies?
  • Does the agency conduct background and reference checks, drug testing, health testing and skill competency levels for each caregiver?
